Who we are
Bookable is the personal information controller for the information described here, under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its implementing rules. This policy says what we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it and what you can ask of us.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, your email, and your password, which our sign-in provider keeps only in scrambled (hashed) form.
- Your bookings: the service, the time, where it happens, the mobile number you give at checkout, your saved addresses and their notes, what you paid (simulated while Bookable is a demo), and any cancellation reason.
- If you name someone who's coming in your place: their name and mobile number. Your provider sees them on the booking and in their email, and we remove them when you delete your account.
- The reviews you post.
- Where you search from: the place you choose, your device's location if you allow it, or else an approximate location from your connection. The place you last chose is kept in a cookie on your device.
- If you're a provider: your profile, services, prices, hours, your place and where you travel from, and your bookings and earnings.
- If you ask to be verified: a live selfie and a photo of a government ID.
- When you agreed to the Terms and this policy.
- Your internet (IP) address, kept for about an hour to stop repeated tries.
Why we use it
- To run the bookings you ask for, and to let both sides reach each other about them.
- To check a provider's identity, with their consent. A government ID is sensitive personal information under the Data Privacy Act, so we ask before we take it.
- To send the emails a booking needs: confirmations, reminders and changes.
- To keep Bookable safe and working, and to meet the law.
Who sees it
- When you book, your provider sees your name, your mobile number, the address of a home visit and its notes, and you see the provider's number.
- Anyone can see a provider's profile, services, prices, ratings and reviews; before booking, only the city of the provider's place.
- Companies that run parts of Bookable for us, under agreements to protect it: Supabase (our database and sign-in, in Singapore), our hosting provider and our email provider. Your information is stored outside the Philippines, with the same protection.
- Sentry, a service that stores app errors, only when we switch it on. We remove personal details from an error report before it is sent.
- Authorities, only when the law requires it.
We never sell your information.
Your selfie and ID photo
We use them only to verify your identity, and only Bookable's admins see them. We delete both the moment an admin approves or rejects your request, or after 30 days if no one has, and keep only the decision, its reason and the time. Our database backups may still hold them for up to 7 days after that, until they're overwritten.
How long we keep it
While your account is open. When you delete your account we straight away remove your name, mobile number, saved addresses, sign-in and the emails about your bookings. We keep the bookings, payments and reviews the other side relies on, under “Former customer” or “Former provider”.
Your rights
Under the Data Privacy Act you can:
- be told how your information is used;
- see a copy of it, and take it with you in a common format;
- have it corrected;
- object to its use, or have it blocked or deleted;
- claim damages if it is misused;
- complain to the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).
You can delete your account any time from your Account page.
Cookies
Bookable uses only the cookies it needs: one that keeps you signed in, one that remembers what you typed at checkout, and one that remembers where you last searched. No advertising or tracking cookies.
Keeping it safe
Connections to Bookable are encrypted, our database is closed to the public, and only the people who run Bookable can reach it.
Contact and changes
Our Data Protection Officer's contact details are added here before launch. If we change this policy we'll post the new version here and email you before it takes effect. See also the Terms.
